I have never had good results opening .brf files with DBT, especially those created or edited with a notetaker. The results are better if I open the program and then the file. Still, much of the text is missing, and I have to pretend they are Duxbury Coded braille for the entire text to appear.

Ann,I followed your instructions and discovered that on my computer things were a bit more complicated, and therefore want to share with the list in case others encounter something similar.First, there was no file association for .BRF files, so I created one by trying to open the file and selecting the option to manually tell Windows what program to use. After closing the dialog, I clicked on the .BRF file again and got the message that the file could only be opened with a licensed product, after which further attempts to open the file resulted in nothing happening.I then went to Control Panel/Folder Options/File Types, found .BRF in the list and tabbed until I found a Restore button. This opened a dialog in which there was an Advanced button, which opened a dialog where I could select an action to perform. I changed the action from "Emboss" to "Open", tabbed to OK, and exited from Folder Options. This time when I tried to open the file, it worked.Obviously, something got broken somewhere along the way, but I'm glad the problem is finally fixed.Steve * * * * This message is via list duxuser at freelists.org. * To unsubscribe, send a blank message with * unsubscribe * as the subject to duxuser-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx .
