Good Evening,
I was able to figure this out, so let me see if I can remember what I did
well enough to explain it. I am running DBT 11.1 SR3 on a Dell desktop
running Windows 7, 64 bit home edition. In the dialog box for associating
the .brf file with the appropriate program, I pressed the spacebar on the
browse button. On my computer, all the programs I have installed are in a
folder called X86. Within that folder, I arrowed to the Duxbury folder,
which contains a folder called DBT 11.1. Within that folder I selected
DBTW.exe and clicked OK a couple times. Now I can open any .brf file I want
to. I hope this is helpful.

Good thought, but if Windows thinks a brf file is a txt file, it will open
notepad or something which is not the idea.
We want windows to associate .brf files with .dxb from Windows Explorer.
It's something which used to work perfectly, once the file had been
correctly associated. But it's not such a big issue that it can't be worked
around. I didn't write to the list about it until somebody else did because
I assumed it was my faulty practice in setting the file associations. When I
heard other people were having the same issue, I realised it may be
something with the way DBT interacts with some versions of Windows.
