Susan,
I used the transcriber note style in Word for Mac. I rechecked my files before
sending this email. When opened in MS Word, TN begin/end indicators are
there. In DBT Mac beta (opened with the default UEB basic, OpenXML/Word 2007:
H1 - Correct with blank lines above/below
H2 - Error - Centered
Paragraphs styled in WFM (Word for Mac) as body text - indent and runover are
correct. DBT labels them "para."
Paragraphs styled (WFM) 1-3, 1-5, 3-5 - DBT labels them all "para." so are 3-1
paragraphs.
A paragraph styled (WFM) left flush, with a blank line above (hard return) - In
DBT beta the first line of the paragraph is labeled "para." - with no blank
line above. Line 2 (the first line of translated page 2) changes to "para.
(level2)"
Since my goal is to send my Word for Mac file created with BANA template to a
PC with DBT 11.3 -- I'm still a happy camper. If you'd like a copy of my files
let me know. I'm a HUGE fan of your BAMA templates and prefer working an Mac,
so ... whatever I can do!

Debby,
How were you inserting the transcriber's note? Were you using the Transcriber's
Note paragraph style, which is supposed to insert the TN symbols when
translated, or did you use the simbraille TN symbols?
If you used the style, there is the Transcriber's Note paragraph style and the
TN-Embed character style. They both rely on the [tns][tne] codes, so in those
should have the same results.
If you had problems with the simbraille, is it only this particular set of
simbraille indicators, or does other simbraille get ignored as well? Other
simbraille "drop-ins" are on the DBT Codes menu for the Nemeth Indicators, as
well as the EBAE TN simbraille indicators. You can also test typing in your own
text and using the Exact Translation style.
Duxbury will need to know the specifics before they can start troubleshooting.

This message is for those of you who have experience with DBT in both PC and
Mac. I recently downloaded the Mac beta demo 12.1. I plan to work on a
document in Word for Mac using the BANA template. The final product will be
embossed from a PC with DBT 11.3. I created a file in Word for Mac with a
variety of styles I commonly use, sent it to my PC and opened it in DBT 11.3,
DBT 12.1 and MS Word. My styles were imported intact. The only irregularity I
found is that transcriber note symbols are omitted. I’d like to know what your
experiences are. What should I be on the alert for?
Thanks in advance for your words of experience.
