I get an error much sooner than he got an error -- while trying to create the /a installation. See attached.

Bob,

I take it that you opted to replicate your embosser definitions around the
network through the installation image.

In doing so, you triggered an obscure bug that nobody else has yet hit upon.
(I'm not at all sure why I haven't hit it myself. It may be, however, that
nobody else has tried this feature yet, which is why others haven't reported
the problem.)

I should be able to fix it. The problem is simpler to fix than to explain.
In the meantime, you'll have better luck if you opt *not* to include
embosser definitions in the network installation image.

Bob,

I develop the MSI package, so I run into these mysterious "installation
interrupted" problems quite frequently -- generally due to errors that never
make it into the code that you wind up running.

There isn't any way I know to diagnose this sort of problem without more
information. Fortunately, it is easy to get more information. From a
command prompt, give the following command:

msiexec /i dbt-1006beta6.msi /L*v install.log

This will run an installation just as before, but will log some details to a
file called install.log. If you send that file to me after you've clicked
the "Finish" button, then I can generally figure out what's going on.

Subject: [duxhelp] Workstations that share an Activation installation

I just attempted to install the new Beta 6 and found I can't get
installation method to work for me. To be honest the only Beta I have
installed to date previously was Beta 1. With Beta 1 I was able to make the
"Workstations that share an activation" method work. Now that I am trying
to install in a new location with the new server image created with msiexec
/a it starts the installation gets most of the way through and then fails
with an installation interrupted error. I am not sure if I am doing
something different, or if something has changed, or if I am just having a
"stupid day" and am overlooking something. I have tried the instructions
over and over again.

I have used the DNS name and IP number of the Server with no luck.

Thanks,

Bob
