Michael, We won't be supporting anything but full installations of DBT running as an shared activation server, because we haven't tested -- and don't plan to test -- pared down configurations. However, all you should really need are: 1. The activation file (the whole Activation directory, including features.ini). 2. slsService.exe and slsService.ini. 3. slsServer.exe. 4. slsLocal.dll If your "server" is Windows 98 (not recommended) then you don't need slsService.exe and slsService.ini either. These don't work in Windows 98 anyhow. But you need to find a way to get slsServer.exe running on startup. Look in slsService.ini for an idea of an appropriate command line, then you might add and appropriate entry for slsServer.exe to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run - Peter -----Original Message----- From: duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxhelp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Michael Surato Sent: Friday, April 28, 2006 3:18 PM To: duxhelp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxhelp] Server install Hi, This may be a somewhat obscure question, but I will ask it anyway. What is the minimum install on the license server box that will actually work? On our system, we have the license server installed on a station that is never used for Braille production. From what I can tell, this system only needs to have the slsService installed to distribute licenses. The main executable will also be required to register the system and get the licenses to distribute. Is there any other item that needs to be installed in this situation? Once the license has been retrieved, would it be possible to remove the main executable without affecting the operation of the license server? If I did such a change, would this be a supported configuration? Thank you very much! +-------------------------------------------+ | Michael Surato | | Resource Center for Persons | | with Disabilities | | Michigan State University | | 120 Bessey Hall | | East Lansing, MI 48824 | | Voice: (517) 353-9643 Fax: (517) 432-3191 | +-------------------------------------------+ * * * * This message is via list duxhelp at freelists.org. * To unsubscribe, send a blank message with * unsubscribe * as the subject to <duxhelp-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>.
