That is, it doesn't work with "xiv"?
Why wouldn't that be surprising?
Or am I misunderstanding you? Do you mean it won't handle
fourteen-character numerals?

I have just been trying out roman numerals in British code.
This is much better and will save time so thank you. Not surprisingly it
does not cope with 14 and I cannot think that there will be a way round that
problem.
