I take it that the issue you reported earlier fixed itself once you made
some adjustment. So I won't worry about that anymore.
My concern is the same as George just had -- are you really choosing "Index
Basic (Blue Bar)" to drive an Everest embosser?

Sorry Peter, I did misunderstand your instructions. As soon as I sent you
an email, I realized what I did was wrong. However when I am embossing
multi copies, Everest embosser is giving "Everest ready" echo every time it
embosses a page. Most of the time my business card file has only one page.
Is there any way I could turn off that sound. This only happens when I
select Index Basic (blue bar) machine.
Your assistance is very much appreciated.

I have no problem embossing this document.
Let me try again to ask the questions I asked earlier. It seems that you
may have misunderstood them.
I am only interested in embossing from DBT 10.5; the success or failure of
other products, including DBT 10.4 isn't my concern.
DBT can emboss to an Index embosser by connecting directly to the serial or
parallel port to which the embosser is attached. DBT can also emboss to an
Index embosser by connecting through the Index driver. One controls how DBT
connects to the embosser by selecting the embosser name in either Document,
Embosser Setup or Global, Embosser Setup. Then, you must click the Edit
button and select either "Send to Printer" (to write through the Index
driver) or "Write to Port" (to write directly to the port to which the
embosser is attached). I am interested to know whether you have tried with
each of these approaches.
If neither approach works, please try embossing to a file (choose the third
option -- "Write to File" after clicking the Edit button), and then send
this file to me.

I agree -- worrisome is a good word.
I cannot think of any good reason why this would be happening in beta 6 and
not in beta 5 (or beta 1, for that matter). We've changed little about the
Index "drivers" in that time -- and absolutely nothing that should have any
direct bearing since beta 5.
Have you tried both:
- Embossing through Index's own printer drivers, and
- Embossing directly to a serial or parallel port?
If so, please try also embossing to a file, then send me the file.

Hello All, This is becoming worrisome to me. I am having the same problems
that I did not have in Beta 5. Here at the CNIB, we do have 2 Index Basic-D
and One Index 4 x 4 Pro. I just tried Beta 6 version of DBT on each of them
and only a dot embossed.
Any ideas why this happens all the sudden.

Please, when responding to messages such as my original message, specify not
only the make but also the model by that particular manufacturer.
If I didn't know Index products, I would not have a clue as to whether you
were talking about an Index Basic-D, Index Basic-S, Index 4 x 4, etc.
Saying that your embosser has 10.4, tells me absolutely nothing about the
model of embosser.
Index might have an embosser called 10.4.
The number 10.4 might refer to the firmware that is installed, or it could
be the particular version of the software that your machine has loaded.
