Bob,

A good night's sleep has perhaps helped.

I think that what you've found, other than the poor error message, may be
largely an artifact of the fact that you have had more than one copy of DBT
10.6 installed at once.

I'll be looking into this with my staff early next week.

Bob,

Further to all this, my records show that the installer was updated to run
"slsService -u" during software removal about six weeks before beta 1 was
built, so you should never have run into this problem. I'll have to look
into that.

That did it Peter.

The service was already there, but the path was pointing to the older Beta 1
directory. I couldn't figure out how to remove the service so that I could
reinstall it, or change the path. As a result, I just copied the NetTools
folder to where the service was looking for it.

How do you remove the slsService service so it can be done the right way?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,

After installation, have you run the following two processes on the server?

slsService -i
set start slsService

Both should be run from within the NetTools subdirectory of the installation
folder. The installer doesn't do these things for you, and presumably won't
for DBT 10.6. But we really should give a better error message.

Subject: [duxhelp] 0x8004105C Authentication error

I have tried this with both Beta 6 and Beta 7.

I am getting the 0x8004105C error on my network install/shared
authentication installation.

1. I have tried installing Beta 6 and Beta 7 on the server.

2. Duxbury runs fine on the server with either version.

3. I "misexec /a" to get the deployment installation.

4. During the build I tried it both ways with the DNS name and IP address.

5. During the build I make sure that the include embosser definitions check
box is unchecked to prevent a previous error that prevented the client from
installing at all.

6. Installation on the client is successful, but I always get the 0x8004105C
Authentication error everytime I try to launch Duxbury.

Please find attached the latest install log from a Beta 6 install with Beta
6 on the server.

Thanks,

Bob
