    I thought his race could be very useful in adding spice to the world.  It
would also mean that lizard men would tend to his worship.  We could take a race
that tends to be a savage, barbaric race, and make them more of a shadowy,
secretive race.  Almost like the drow, but a little more barbaric.  A race that
is tied to the environment they live in, but that search for ancient secrets to
use against the humanoids.  Just an idea.
