We are Russ and Jodi Lante down here in Morriston FL. We breed Welsh Cobs and
Sportponies (Cob crosses I like to call my Morristonian Sport Cobs). I'd say we
sell them, but that would misleading. We offer them to the best possible homes
when the timing is just right. We keep WAY more than we sell as evidenced by
our feed, farrier and vet bills.
Russ is a photographer/videographer by profession, working at the University
of FL.
I am the horse/pony trainer, manager, breeding professional as well as the
reknowned pony ride lady in the North Central FL area. I am Party Animals Pony
Rides and I am proud to be, for many children, their very first contact with
equines.
I also do Equine Sports Massage which is new to me but I really do enjoy the
work. It's like being a detective in many ways. You feel what the muscles tell
you, see how the horses react and then figure out why they are having the
problem. It's always amazing to me how they will surprise you. Things you don't
think you will see in a certain type of horse show up and the cause is
unexpected. It's very rewarding when you can help an owner realize what's going
on and give them ideas to solve the problems.
Russ has been driving many years and has competed in Combined Driving. I have
my background in riding everything from hunters to eventers, but my love is
dressage. I came to driving over 10 yrs ago now and until my unfortunate
accident in 2003 (mentioned below )I very much enjoyed it. Nothing sucks the
joy out quicker than seeing your Cob stallions life flash before your eyes.
I've not had the guts to drive anything with four wheels since that accident.
Maybe someday, but for now I'm happy to prep the youngsters for my husband to
drive.
We are currently not competing any ponies because we just have nothing going
at this time. Most of ours are much too young. Willow Oak Evening Comet our Sec
D stallion was hurt in a carriage malfunction accident late in 2003 and has
never fully physically recovered. It's been a bummer for me because he was
doing so well before the accident. As I mentioned above I never psychologically
recovered so we are at a stand still with my driving. I do drive my small pony
to a cart every weekend for birthday parties. I trust my good ole easy entry
cart and my broke to death pony so it's not hard for me to perform that task.
Gallod Llywelyn our buckskin Sec D stallion is not mature enough to compete
at this time. I really have no plans to drive him. He has dressage movement to
die for and I am planning to ride him.
Russ has an up and coming a pair of full sisters he is very excited about.
Both are Arabian/Welsh Cob crosses by our very own stallion. They will be a
pony pair. Neither is broke to the carriage yet, but it's not very far in the
future. Neither is old enough to compete this year anyway. We are in no rush.
I'm the ground work person so it will get done as fast as I can do it. One
me... 20 ponies... very hard to get things done at any speed.
We do have for sale at this time a single horse batmobile and two coming two
year olds by our black Cob stallion. They can be seen at
