[drivingpairs] Re: time to give up

More good advice from you guys, and I really appreciate it. I've talked it over with my trainer, and we're going to move him to the outside of the pair, put something in his ears to block the noise, put blinders on him, and practice cantering up some hills with the carriage. He's such a calm horse in general, and has been absolutely traffic-safe for 7 years, that I think we'll try again. I'll also do ground work on spook-training in general, although I would have said that you could set a bomb off next to this guy and he wouldn't care. But that's here at home, obviously a different situation. One other possible factor that just occurred to me could be that we started him on thyroid medication a couple of years ago. I did notice a change in his energy levels when we started it, but certainly in no way that I would call spooky or high energy, just a change from "full stop" to "ahead slowly". I've had his thyroxin levels checked since he's been on the medication, and they are now normal. Could be he's not quite the same horse as we've had for 7 years?
