[drivingpairs] Re: rules and "The Book"

    I am not disagreeing that competitors should know the rules, because it
is certainly much to their advantage during a competition to understand
them. But I don't think signing an entry form necessarily means that you
have the rules memorized. Knowing the rules for one person can mean having a
general idea about the intent of the rule. For another it might mean they
can quote the rule. I much prefer to have my rule book in hand to look up a
rule I am unsure of. The rules do change and I try and write the changes in
my book or keep those changes on a separate piece of paper.
