<I have petitioned to have this rule changed - we will see what happens. In
all years showing under this rule I have kept the britching on my wheelers
because the show site is quite rolling and access to the show arena is ASPHALT
and DOWNHILL. I could have dropped it when reaching the arena, but one of the
show requirements is to rein back and the wheelers use the britching to help
push the carriage backwards.>
Unless you plan on being at Convention and having a great deal of support from
others who are there with you chances are very slim of a rule change of this
type going through. ASPC Harness ponies are never asked to rein back - in fact
the rule states "These ponies are not required to back". Point this out to the
rulebook committee and the AMHR rule will likely be recommened changed to have
a standardized version across the board (which is something the ASPC/AMHR has
been working toward the last few years). You have a much better chance of that
going through than allowing britching in a Fine Harness class.
