[drivingpairs] Re: pairs bits question

www.starlakefarm.com

This is a very nice website...

I want to thank Peter and Rachael for sharing it or was it Ann Council...

No matter, I'm grateful as I would never have found it on my own, and isn't
that the wealth of our various lists... to share what we find and what we
know...

I have small ponies, and some of you might realize I rather like the color
purple

Though this is a Miniature Horse site for the most part, many of their items
work for my small ponies

They have fly masks that are adjustable at both the crown and under the jaw,
they have boots, leg wraps and blankets...

Harness bags, just about what ever you can think of, in the smaller equine
size

...and so very many of them come in PURPLE... I am all atwitter

I picked up a card from a tack shop at the MD Expo that caters to minis just
because people are asking for small bits. They are Star Lakes Tack, Box 276
Atlasburg, PA 15004-0276. www.starlakefarm.com
I know they're looking for sources all the time.

Subject: [drivingpairs] pairs bits question

Hi All
Does anyone know a good source for 4" bits? It's pretty hard to find a good
selection of driving bits in the first place, but when you have to search
for small ones, there isn't much to choose from. One of my pair goes happily
in a mullen mouth half-cheek, and the other (greener) one is going nicely in
a d-ring french-link. He has a very small, flat mouth with low palette I
think, and this relatively thin little bit is comfy for him and lays nicely
on his tongue. But the d-rings are really too big (kind of overwhelm his
face), and with a big ring like that the rein has a lot of play before you
actually take up contact. Does that make any sense? I think perhaps a good
solution would be a french-link half cheek if I could find one in 4". Then
they'd look the same on the outside, but each horse would be happy inside
his mouth. Any thoughts you folks might have would be welcome.

rain.
