the last letter in reminded me of this wonderful old book "GreenBroke,." i
dont remember the author, but it was the true story of this family that
raised welsh ponies. whenever they had drivers come to look at their ponies,
the driver always wanted the match to a pair: so they always asked for
something like; "a pale chestnut that is sorta stocky, is 13.2 & 3/4, has
one white stocking on hind off side, a full blaze, and a bit of a squintty
expression.' I wish i could remember who wrote the book : it was hilarious
- although i think maybe some of the horse-care related stuff hit too close
to home!
Over the weekend, i was ground driving my 3 year gelding, and my husband
got out his mare - she is part of our pair - and we "drove' them side by
side down our road. (they werent attached in any way.) At the start the 3
year old seemed to be doing a Gomez Adams thing - humming 'love is in the
air' & wanting to nibble at poor Zuza's neck, but i was surprised at how
good he was, really. he's been hitched single but not done much, and his
'someday pairmate,' Cookie, has done nothing at all, but it was kind of neat
to see him going down the road side-by-side with somebody!
In other news, all the welding on the sleigh is done. now for the wood
work! nancy in NH
