Similar as in my post about bits and the questionable fashion of always
trying to combine various different things to get the advantages of both and
forgetting that perhaps the combination might also bring the disadvantages of
both, I am careful if not perhaps the same holds true for the combination of
neck and breast collars. I have not used them, but understand from friends in
Europe that have used them, that similar to neck collars, they need to be
extremely well made to fit properly and many cheap immitations do not fit
properly and are doing more harm than good. But even the good ones have the
problem that they cover a much larger area of the horse than either full
collars nor breast collars and that many drivers feel they have problems with
excessive heat built up under them that can't escape.
