Something I have tried for the horse that wants to hurry home to his buddy
is the following: If he's being naughty/jigging, I make 'home' not quite so
much fun. I drive into the next field or ring or whatever you have and make
him WORK for 10 minutes or so, then we walk down the road again, turn
around, and see if we will approach home calmly. If not, we do some more
work. He quickly figured out that there was no point to hurrying home, it
only meant more work. We didn't end up fighting about it, and the lesson was
learned. Just what worked for me.
