We pay $1.50/40 lb bale of excellent grass hay (and that is stacked in the
barn). BUT it has snowed every day since the beginning of the year and I
wouldn't dream of taking the carriage out on the roads banked with snow. So
far
this year I've ridden once in an indoor. We always have so much wind that we
rarely have bugs even in the summer, BUT our drifts are up to the windowsills.
I'd never trade for warmer climes though, I like it here in western NY state
just fine!
