You asked a question about the single shaft driving vehicle.
I remember finding a web site with a detailed history of the racing sulky.
This was a number of years ago and unfortunately I cannot find it now.
From memory it appeared that they got banned from racing, apparently they
were faster than the normal sulky.

The following site has some of the history of the dorsal shaft design
www.rjwalsh.com.au/t-dorsal.html I suspect the original site was also one connected with RJ Walsh and their harness racing business, but wasn't able
to find it today.

One of the local CDE drivers made himself a dorsal shaft design vehicle a few years ago and competed regularly in CDEs. I haven't seen him recently (I don't go to many CDEs these days) so I am not sure whether he still drives
it. He believed it gave the horse a lot more freedom to move and turn.
