[drivingpairs] finding a carriage to purchase

I have considered runny an ad in my driving club newsletters because folks
often have "stuff" they just need a nudge to sell. The draw back is that as
I discovered when purchasing a used harness that even the most well
respected and knowledgeable people often are unrealistic about the age and
condition of there equipment!
A dealer is obviously the most likely source. Plus, most dealers want to
maintain a good reputation. Purchasing new is the "easiest" because of
selection and warranty. Purchasing used from a dealer is less expensive but
the product has a much more limited warranty. Purchasing from an individual
can be the greatest or worse decision. Yuck. What is a girl to do??

Thanks for all the help! The info on turning is so important. With this
vehicle I have "beauty" and an incredible turning radius. I would find it
difficult (and dangerous) to go to a vehicle with less turning radius (since
I have been spoiled and didn't know any better).
I know of a marathon vehicle that may come up for sale. The vehicle is at
least 9 years old, can be used single or with a pair. The owner isn't sure
its value and neither do I.
How does one determine fair market value for something like this and yep a
mechanic is s great idea too.
(p.s. Thank you for the offer to visit Chapter One Farms, it is near enough
and I have it on my list of "Wants")
