[drivingpairs] finally we are hooked!

Well after a seemingly prolonged preparation, we finally got our two 'boys'
hooked as a pair to a vehicle about two weeks ago. They've been getting
ground-driven together for about 3 months and really seem to enjoy getting
out and seeing the neighbourhood together. Cody (the green one) is very
bold, and having Mr. Patience (Tony) along with him gives him confidence to
face anything. We've had barking dogs racing along their side of the fence,
and Cody actually wants to go over and say "Hi!" By the way, did I mention
that the 'boys' are each 37" tall, so a big barking dog can be pretty
frightening. But they are just excellent. We took so long to hook them
because we hadn't yet built the pole for my carriage. I think I was the one
who started the whole pole discussion on the list about a year ago. Well I
sure learned a lot from you folks, and I'm just tickled with the way this
one turned out. We've hooked them twice now and just gone for short drives
(still getting things adjusted just right on the new harness), but now snow
has finally come to Vancouver Island, so unless I go to an indoor, we'll
have to just wait it out (or build a sleigh really quick). We've had snow on
the ground for over a week, which is just shocking for us. I don't even OWN
snow tires! But I'm anxiously awaiting spring, as I've ordered a new
carriage from Driving Essentials, which should arrive in April. Glinkowski
is building one called a Mini 4 which I think will be just the ticket for
us. Can't wait to actually get it out for a drive. Anyway, having two little
behinds in front of me is a pretty neat experience, and the fact that they
enjoy it is icing on the cake. I'm so hooked on this pairs business now.
Happy driving everyone! (and if your weather's not cooperating either, I
hope you have some good driving videos to watch)
