Even though driving multiples is HIGHLY entertaining and dare I say habit forming (more politically correct than the "a" word) sometimes deviations from "correctness" are slightly hidden; that crop up once the animals are driven single again. So to strike a happy medium between driving multiples, and keeping an eye on true progress of training, it is helpful to take the critters out as solo acts, to be sure all the good qualities we want in our animals are still there: relaxation,straightness,bending, in our hand, etc.

Also a great way to check the braveness meter,so pony isn't always counting on his or her buddy to be the brave one !
