I like your take on carriage weight, Hardy.
"If anything, often our modern
competition carriages are too light rather than too heavy. And since many
here are so concerned with the weighht and always want it light - especially 
the
single drivers, that's why you find many carriage makers so reluctant to 
give
the true weight of their carriages, as people then  wouldn't buy them and
think they are too heavy."
I hadn't thought of that angle and it explains alot and makes sense! Like 
everything you tell us...;-)
