[drivingpairs] bouncing pole - advice needed

I need some advice. When my pair of ponies start trotting in step, the pole
end starts to bounce and seems to bother them, they then drop out of step
which steadies the pole. They seem to like to move in step, so once the
pole is no longer bouncing on their necks they start to move in step which
starts the pole bouncing... I drive a Puddle Jumper which has a pole
supported by a shock absorber and a yoke that both rotates and swivels. I
would like them to be comfortable while moving in step. Any suggestions on
how to quiet the pole?
Thanks,
Merrie Morgan Stevens
