today was the first day of the rest of their lives as a pair for jh
and agnes.  agnes was a complete superstar!  we went to the waller's
in stockbridge and steve holm and mary showed me how to put them
together after i longlined them in the indoor for about 10 min.
agnes was a little nervous at the start of longlining but settled
quite quickly.  she had never been in an indoor before either.  after
hitching to a heavy marathon-type wagonette and working around the
indoor for another 10 min at the walk we went out on all the carriage
roads around the farm at the trot and then into the ring.  we worked
in the ring and did changes of direction and steering thru cones and
circles and agnes didn't bat an eyelash.  i "let" steve drive for the
first 20 min or so and then i drove <G>.  after ring work i took them
back out on the carriage roads and they continued to trot their
hearts out calmly.  i bet they trotted for 40 min all together.....
no wonder they were good <G>.  tomorrow will be a repeat of today, i
hope, and again on saturday weather permitting.
