[drivingpairs] Yoke Picture and Others

There is an excellent picture of a dropped pole, yoke
setup, on the January page of Driving Horse Calendar
this year. Very clear picture of horses using yoke,
dropped pole to a sleigh.

March page has a marathon yoke in the calendar, though
it is small. A Haflinger pair to a marathon vehicle
in a hazard. I would call the September picture more
of a pole head than a yoke. Last year's calendar had
a couple good, larger pictures. Maybe a driving
friend has a copy of last years you can look at.

Also some interesting pictures of poles using pole
heads and rings, to a marathon vehicle and several
dressy pleasure vehicles in the rest of the calendar.
I would not classify the October picture of a pair
with the Curricle, with other pair vehicles. It looks
excellent, Curricles are a class by themselves.
Curricles have a great many other factors in harness
attachment, that other pair vehicles don't deal with.
A Curricle is about one of the least common vehicles
you would ever see. The Curricle harness, balance on
two wheels, cross bar on horses back, with pole
spring, is about the most different harnessing system
invented.

I love that calendar. It is so nice because almost
everyone has a copy, to reference various harness,
vehicles. You just name a page or issue for
discussion and pictures are stupendous, clear, show
details well.
