[drivingpairs] Re: Who we are and what we sell

Hello,

We are Jeff & Ginny Pomije. We have been driving for about 3 years now. We never planned to get into driving horses. A few years ago we each bought a riding horse. My wife found an Arabian to ride. After a few mis-haps with the Arabian, she decided she wanted a bit more stable horse like the Morgan I purchased. We found a young Morgan that was broke to ride and drive. Well not too long after bringing the Morgan home, the Arabian started to settle in as a nice riding horse. So the spare Morgan had become a pasture ornament. Finally we decided that we should try driving him. We sent him back to school for a refresher and some training for ourselves. We had a great time driving him.

About a month had past since bringing him home from school and we began having problems getting him into the cart. He kept wanting to rear up. Driving was beginning to seem to dangerous to us. My wife heard about a beginning driving class in the area, so we both signed up. The class was taught with Percherons. We both fell in love with the breed. Very dependable level headed horses. Soon after, we purchased a team (that's two horses in the draft world) and have been having a great time with them ever since going to parades, plowing contests and helping friends do carriage driving jobs. Our herd currently consists of an Arabian gelding, a Morgan gelding, two Percheron mare and a Percheron - Morgan cross 8 month old filly. We plan to teach her to drive.

What we sell, in addition to our day jobs we have a small embroidery business. We embroider animals (specialty is horses), lighthouses, covered bridges and other scenes onto bath towels, checkbook covers, blankets, saddle covers, and other items. Our website is at: http://www.bigblackhorse.com Our other goal is to setup a horse boarding facility on 40 acres of wooded land we recently purchased. We'd like to add some riding/driving trails through the woods.

Thanks for your time,

Jeff & Ginny Pomije
