I second Hardy on not using voice on downward transitions nor turns. IMO, every time you make a downward transition or a halt, you are training the horse as to the proper response to the bit. When we started combined driving, we watched the Horse in Sport video where they told the voice commands--Come and Get. That seemed to be the thing to do; so we did it. But as we became more familiar with the sport, we stopped. The horse is responding to your aids anyway. I am sure I am not the only one who has used the wrong word when turning. The horse turned the way it was set up; didn't immediately turn the other way because I used the wrong word.
