Margo,
If you have buckle in traces on your breastcollar pair harness, you would
only need to get the neck collar, and hames with long tugs. everything else
should fit the same. Of course, some adjustment will probably be necessary,
as the angle of draft will change. Even if you get new traces, the rest of
the harness should work with it.
Collar fitting is not some obscure science. Measure the horses neck along
the line where the collar will sit. Also measure the width of the neck along
the same line. Give those measurements to the seller, and they should be
able to come pretty close to what you need. Order one, and try it on all the
animals you need to use a collar on. Then, you may have to return it for the
correct sized ones, or keep that one and get whatever additional ones you
need. It's always easier to fit a collar if you have one to start with. Do
not assume that two animals that are the same size will use the same size
collar. Some do, some don't. Don't be afraid to squish it down (top to
bottom) to get the width you need. When you order the hames, be sure to tell
them what size collars you are using. The hames need to fit the collars
well, and "may" need to be reshaped a little to allow the collar to set
correctly on the horses shoulders.

Another question or two, if you will--is it possible to 'interchange'
using a breast collar, and its traces, with using a neck collar/hames, with
its traces, and yet use the remainder of the harness without change? Any
specific tips/"secrets" regarding accurate measurement for neck collars?
