[drivingpairs] Re: Starting to drive pairs

I also like The Art of Driving by Max Pape, and I've learned tons from this
list. However, as with trying anything new, professional help is the way to
go if it's available. I've been getting weekly help since September with my
pair (VSEs), and we've been out driving around the neighbourhood since the
New Year. But I feel much better being a passenger most of the time and
letting my coach handle the reins while 'the boys' are learning something
new or driving through a scary situation. Once the fields dry up a bit and
we can get off the road, I'll take over the reins more. In the meantime, I
think I'll get that book that Bob recommends!

Hi Cheryle,

I am doing the same thing (moving on to pairs from Single).
I never found the web site you are looking for, but I did take some
good advise that I got from this group, I think it was Hardy, and
bought "The Principles of Driving" by the German National
Equestrian Federation. It is a very good reference and an easy
read. Some one did a good job with the translation. It has been a
great reference for me and I highly recommend it for anyone
starting out in pairs. In fact, I wish I had the book when I
started driving singles.
