I attended a driving clinic a few years back.
The number one thing that I remember was that the
clinican walked the horses for a full ten minutes
after hooking before doing anything else. What a
great idea I thought! It really tied in to
standing. If the horse expects that he will walk
for a while before being allowed to do anything
else, he might stand better. Those driver who
just hook and go should expect a horse that might
dance around and act goofy when hooked.
