[drivingpairs] Re: Shetlands and Kicking Strap for pairs

Hi everyone

In answer to the questions about Shetlands there is also another division.
This is called the American Show Pony Registry and the size is 48" or less.
It can be any registered Shetland or Shetland/Hackney cross.  I hope this
helps whoever needed the info.

In order to make this pair oriented, I will be starting my new pair this
summer.  They are both Shetlands about 45 1/2".  They are black geldings
each with a star and snip.  I have been walking them in and out of the barn
together all winter and now they don't mind bumping into each other at all.
That was my first step in getting them to tolerate each other.  I bought one
of them to match the other and they had to get to know each other.  I will
keep you posted on their progress.  I will be hitching them one at a time
with my experienced pair mare so that they get used to pair driving with her
first.  They each drive single already.

Somewhere in my files, I have a copy of an article on a pair kicking strap.
I will try to find it and send it in to the list.  How would I do that?
