[drivingpairs] Re: Poles, et

Hardy and Don,

Thank you so much for your clear explanations! You would have laughed the
first time I hooked my pair to the sleigh. I had driven them quite a bit with
the marathon wagon, so had used a spring pole setup without eveners. Well, the
sleigh did not come with evener straps, and nothing was fixed...I couldn't
figure out this setup, I was thinking it was the stupidest setup ;-). Of
course
Mr. Gung Ho moves forward and lazy sis gets whacked in the hocks with the
sleigh. So we very quickly stopped, and I ran back to the barn to get the
leather collars that I use as halters around their throatlatches when I have
them
tied to harness up. I had found that those helped to teach them to stay
together when I had started training them, so on went the collars, and off we
went
dashing through the snow!!! You can see one of the sleighing photos on our
website www.starcrossstable.com. BTW, I
just picked up evener straps for the sleigh - now pray for snow this weekend so
we can take some more sleighing photos for Christmas cards!! Thanks again :-)
