For use on a marathon vehicle, we use a short, swivel
(up, down, forward and back) neck yoke, which clips
onto the breast collar chest rings. We like the neck
yoke to keep horses moving straight forward. Allows
us to shorten pole for hazards, smaller turns.
For a pole using a regular head, either swivel or
fixed rings, there MUST be more length to control
vehicle. So a pole with a head, would be better used
on a show vehicle, Dressage vehicle, where short pole
length is not as important. Shortening the pole with
a head, makes the pole straps go sideways at too much
of an angle. Horses do not have good control of
vehicle and are pulled sideways, constantly. Poor
leverage factor with too short of a pole and pole
head, for the horses.
