I like Driving Essentials Catalogue showing the Glinkowski's carriages. 
They tell the wt of carriages and if they are suitable for pony pairs,
horse pairs.  The carriage should weigh 550lbs for med lge ponies and 750
for horse pairs.  I have only driven single so far...but I will make sure
my marathon carriage's wt is suitable.  Since I drive alone
alot...Glinkowski's carriages have wts to add under the back step...to
make up for the planned for grooms.  It makes sense you don't want to
hitch too light wt vehicle to pairs.  Pat
