My pair do the opposite, they lean in... nearly lay on one another, 
 
Their legs push out at an angle as well as of course push back to propel the 
carriage.
 
Very frustrating...

be that the pole was heavy hanging down from their necks and they 
starting pulling out from the weight of it. We have just received a new 
marathon carriage with a suspended pole now, so I hope that will help 
the problem. Previously our set-up was as you described yours - with the 
straps attaching the front of the breastcollar to the tip of the pole. 
Do try lengthening those straps, as someone suggested, as that might 
help. Is your pole suspended?
