1. Pairs often require one level higher of a bit than singles.

2. You may be very surprised at which one needs more bitting.  Drive 
them both single to get a handel (ooops, wrong list!) on this.

3. Setting of the buckles on the pair reins is very challenging, if you 
are not logically minded (I am not).

Shortening the coupling rein (the one that moves when you slide it up 
and down to buckle it) pulls the horse on that rein in to the pole. You 
may need to lengthen those two coupling reins to straighten them.
