Margaret, how old is this horse you want to start ground driving? Teach him
oral commands by leading him if he doesn't already know them. All you need
is a pair of driving lines (reins) and a saddle from a harness. Get some
one to help you by leading the horse when you give the command to walk on
etc. You don't need the old horse to go with him. It is easier than you
think. Most horses pick up ground driving quickly. Good luck
