[drivingpairs] Finally

When we bought our Anglo Arab, Bob, as a 5-year old (he is now 8), we had a
dream that he would pair with our grey Hanoverian mare Erin then a 2-year old.
They have been living together ever since. Bob made his debut as a single in
2003 even winning advanced in Georgia. Erin started more slowly winning her
only Training Level outing in 2004. Both are competitive in ridden dressage.
We put them together when Erin was quite green, but it didn't work well. Bob
is too willing to play if it looks as if his partner might go along; so she did
her early pair work with our Welsh Cob Cilcennin (who had to be put down last
spring when he broke his leg). Erin has turned into a real steady driving
horse. Finally started Bob and Erin together again this fall, but Paul, the
pair driver in our family, is working long hours and doesn't have much time to
get it done. BUT, this weekend he took them to the Oklahoma Harness Horse
Association Poker Run. They behaved beautifully, and are turning into a really
nice pair.
When Erin made her debut this fall, I received the nicest compliment from one
of my fellow competitors who said my horses all go the same. This translates
into good prep work for pairs, doesn't it?
