[drivingpairs] Re: Emil 8's - sorry long - but important :-) - Reply

Hi Hardy,
Thank you for your excellent email which I have 'saved' so I can
reread it and reread it and learn. Since I have been having some equipment
problems, I decided to spend some time riding my Cobs girls. Most of this
riding time has been spent out on the many hilly trails that are not
suitable for driving around my house. I must admit that I am very pleased
with the differences that I am seeing under saddle. Both of my mares are
handling going down VERY steep hills much better in only two weeks. They are
become much more flexible, using their haunches well under them and no
longer intimated by these steep, rocky declines that they are now taking in
stride. The up hill portions of these trails were never an issue.
How do you feel about cross training? I feel that I accomplishing a
great deal in only two weeks of riding while the 'equipment' issues are
being resolved. I also feel that some of the 'stiffness' I was seeing
driving my pair at Larry's is disappearing under saddle. At least, I am
keeping them fit. I am also pleased that my less flexible mare (on the
right in the pair) is getting better quicker under saddle. Yes, they need a
great deal more work but...
Yours,
Claudia Novak
