Hello
I have been driving pairs since 2000, and currently own two teams that I
have driven in the local parades. The team of mares are my favorite,
because they are well matched full sisters, and young enough to have lots of
energy, yet well trained. The only problems with them are: they like to
trot all the time and I have tried for two years to get them to walk for
more than 5 strides, and they aren't going well in the harness that I bought
with them, which according to diagrams fits them perfectly. They do go fine
in the Bavarian-style harness that I brought from Europe. Go figure, the
heavy collars and lack of britching appeals to them...
I am looking to learn a lot more about driving - I own several good books on
the subject, as well as a good video on training a horse to harness. This
February I hope to fly to Florida and take driving lessons from a
well-respected trainer there, and work with my friend's team of Haflingers
to practice on. I love to drive, both single and double. In addition, my
husband, daughter and I ride our 8 Haflingers both English and Western. If
you can do it with a horse, I want to learn it.
I'm glad to have the opportunity to "meet" you all, and look forward to
learning all I can.
Thanks!
