Thanks Hardy and Carolyn for the thoughts on 4s being steadier than tandem. I
still think 4 is alot of horse in front of me, and the thought of all the
nuances of rein talking to each one still makes me quake in spite of what you
say. I'm afraid I'd not be able to talk as well as I can to the individuals in
pair and tandem. I am so impressed with the 6 and 8 drafts at the stock shows
around here. The best drivers make them dance.
However, I do think it would be pretty nifty seeing two proud heads way out
there doing their thing in front like magic instead of the one, which is still
magic to me. Watching the harmony of them tracking so obediently and bending
one after another so fluently just makes my heart sing, no kidding!
I still have the lengthy conversations of rein holding for 4s from old previous
posts by Hardy et al. Instead, maybe i'll work on the standing on two tied to a
fence with an imaginary 3 in front!!! ha ha!
Thanks again,
Karon

<snip> Also, with a tandem, you can work your
way up to doing it with riding one and longlining the other, which isn't as
"easy" (grin) with a 4, although the Hungarians certainly do, but then, they
don't ride on the wheeler, they stand on them, and they don't do it with 4,
but with 5, Hungarian Post, standing on the two wheelers, driving 3 in front
of them, and coming into the arena in a full gallopp with all 5, a
breathtaking sight !
