Debbie, you certainly have a way with your words.  I felt like I was on the 
carriage with you, going through the marathon.....what fun.  Thanks for sharing 
that experience.   Like you, I have a loop at the ends of the reins that I keep 
on my finger.   When I used Hungarian lines, they were long enough to hook over 
the seat back before I sat down.   This kept them from coming off.   Have also 
stuck the lines under one leg.   Hope you get more help with dropping the 
lines.....
