I also have not seen the picture, but the correct configuration for a side
check with bridoon is with hangers attched to the bridle which carry the
bridoon. Without the hangers, either the check must be unfairly tight, or the
bridoon will fall out of the mouth when not in full contact with the check. I
am not sure where the practice of attaching side checks to the bit originated,
but I suspect it to be an Amish invention, translated badly from an over check.
