Any kind of boycotting of shows or driving activities
should be avoided at all costs, even if someone you
dislike is involved . You hurt yourself and many
others. Not necessesarily the person you are aiming
at. Volunteers and clubs put these things on.
Breaking their pocketbooks, negating all their HARD
work, is a poor way to express displeasure. Then
there is one less activity to choose from in the
future. Those folks won't EVER try again, too
discouraging! Probably will spread their poor
experiences around, discouraging even MORE people from
considering doing a show or drive or CDE. We don't
need LESS to pick from.
Perhaps the folks who wrote, named as associates of Ed
Young, know something we don't, want to stand as his
friends, right or wrong? I really think that there
were very few on the minus side, should not have been
publicly named and branded as nay-sayers. People have
a right to an opinion, as do the ones on the popular
"correct" side of an issue. The folks who are the
voting board, selection committee, are already common
knowledge. Decided to sit on the PUBLIC board, so
listing their names was just an information list for
newcomers.
I would strongly object to any calls for boycotting
shows, activities, because someone we may or may not
agree with, is involved. Then it turns into a
vendetta.
I have seen too many of those in all the horse
industry. Sure don't want that stuff in the Driving
corner as well. Kind of like boo-ing when someone
enters the ring. Very low class.
