[drivingpairs] Book Recommendation

Since it's a sale week, perhaps I'm allowed to recommend what I think is a
really great new book that just came out and that I think everybody shoud have
-
actually a Photo Album "A Driving Horse" from Bob Mischka (whom many of you
know from his great calendars). It's over 150 pages of wonderful color
pictures that Bob took in the last two years at some of the top competitions,
both
CDE's and Pleasure Shows. Over half of them are of Pairs and Multiples, incl.
some big Draft hitches as well. All pictures are identified and it reads like a
who is who of most of our top competitors (they are listed in an alphabetical
index, so you can look up your favorite drivers). The best part of it, I
think, besides the joy of looking at the beautiful pictures, is that it's
really a
great education tool. One can study the turnouts and see in details what our
top drivers are doing, how they harness, hitch, and drive, and what equipment
they use. See Bob's website at <www.mischka.com> for details and to order, or
by mail at P O Box 2067, Cedar Rapids IA 52406, or by toll free phone
877-647-2452. The cost is $39 each, plus shipping of $5 for the first and $2
for
additional. (It makes a great gift too). Disclaimer: I wrote the foreword for
it,
but have no financial interest in it or the sale of it - I just think it's a
really great book, which can anwer many of the quipment questions that come up
on this list - like how a good yoke should look, or who uses breeching, how
leader lines are run, etc.
I'm sure, you'll enjoy it.
Hardy
