[drivingpairs] ADS Annual Meeting and eekend of Driving for Pleasure

Dear Friends:
It is really critical that we have as many of you as possible register for
this with the ADS office right away ! (and then come to the meeting in Oct).
Details are at www.americandrivingsociety.org, and were as well in the last
Wheelhorse (August edition), so you can do it from that one by fax too, but
please do it TODAY or LATEST TOMORROW, PLEASE!
According to the Bylaws we need at least 75 members present to have a quorum
to conduct business at the Annual Meeting of the Membership. I hear that as of
today, we are way short of that number in registrations! It would be a real
shame, if we can't get it done. This is pretty much in the middle of the
country! If you can't drive there, then Denver is a major airport just 25 miles
north of Parker, and hub for United & Frontier, and flights are fairly
reasonable
this time of the year from just about everywhere in the USA to go there. Or,
you can drive, it's real pretty country! I have done it often. Hotels there are
also very reasonable for as low as $ 53,- a night.

At times we hear voices of folks who are not happy with this or that that
THEY (the ADS folks) do. It's not US and THEM. It's all US! WE are it! The ADS
is
like a toolbox. It's YOUR toolbox,, it's OUR toolbox! Now is one of those
times to come and use it, and especially for us in the Western States, who at
times also complain that "they" always do these things in the East and NEVER in
our area! Here it is! Now put your money where your mouth has been! Now it's
time to COME, or elsewise never complain again that it's not here!

And there really are a lot of great activities planned which should be much
fun as well as useful learning opportunities: Learn to drive a four-in-hand
with four small bicycles attached to each other simulating a four in hand,
which
you stear by regular four-in-hand reins (see Dec 2003 Whip page 72). Driving
clinics by Lisa Singer (who just won, what, her 7th title as national pairs
Champion!) with dressage, cones walks & driving, hazard walks, etc. Scoring by
hand- and course designer seminars (by Jamie O'Rourke organizer of The
Laurels!), Turnout and harnessing multiples demonstrations, coach horn blowing
lessons, regional planning meetings, trade fair, pleasure drives etc, all at
the
Colorado Horse Park at High Prairie Farms, where we just had the National
Singles Championship a few weeks ago.

The annual meeting of the membership is Friday afternoon Oct. 8th in Parker,
Colorado. I hope to see many of you there. I'll be there. Won't you come and
join us, PLEASE ?
Hardy
