Almost off-topic, but it would be remiss not to mention the large tents
sited throughout Melbourne's suburbia during 1950s wherein "Housie-housie"
games were popular most nights. Local housewives, hell-bent on parting
with their meagre food budget, were its main clientele. State legislation
sensibly outlawed the game from early 1960s, as I recall.

with me coming a close 2nd by

Not much has changed as far as SDA goes. I live nearby to "Adventist
Park" on Kalamunda Road in Maida Vale. Every Easter, the place comes alive
with tents as "Sevvies" from all over WA come to join in the Easter
services, meet up with one another and generally enjoy themselves. 25 years
ago, my next-door neighbour was the daughter of a "Sevvie pastor" (her
words) and I learned a lot from her as well. SDA Carmel College in Carmel
(Perth Hills area) is popular with sevvies and non-sevvies alike because of
its excellent academic and moral values. It's always good to see the Easter
gathering and before my SDA friends from Bunbury stopped coming because of
age/health problems, I could pop in and visit. I'm not SDA but I was always
made welcome. I have found this history of SDA movement in Australia really
