Thank you so much for sending the photo of Harrisdale Hospital! I remember
driving past it many times. I also remember my Mum telling me about the very
unhygienic practices that happened there! My Parents lost our youngest brother
(Peter MACLEAN born 8.8.1958)
to septicemia there.

Attached is a picture of Harrisdale Hospital, Como at 321 Canning Highway,
Como. I found this in a book “Voices in the Dust – Australian Banning
Connections” by Laurel Harris some years ago when I went searching for the
hospital I was born in.

Myself and my 5 of my siblings were born at Harrisdale Hospital. My Mum used
to talk about "Matron and Elsie". Apparently both of them used to have
cigarettes hanging out the side of their mouths while delivering babies! I
think it was at 272 Canning Highway.

Hello
I was born in Harrisdale Hospital 17 November 1946 straight after the war.
My Mother would point it out when we came to the city and it was a lovely
old homestead. Does anyone have an original of the hospital.
I live now just down the road and It is all units now.
