Ahhh Weeties - always on the kitchen table in my toddlerhood.

I was three when I realised those markings on the packet actually meant something. I taught myself to read off the back of a Weeties packet.

I asked Mum what they meant, I learned that each letter was a different sound and so I learned. It helped that Mum had been a 'Monitor' (trainee teacher) before the war started. Apparently I was 3 1/2 when I read everything on it by myself. No wonder I got bored at school :)

regards, John
